07-27-2012 Solid Waste Fee Implementation Flyer
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Notice is hereby given by the Pittsylvania County Board of
Supervisors of the Implementation of the Solid Waste Fee authorized by
Article III of Chapter 17 of the Pittsylvania County Code.
In order to insure public awareness and answer questions that have
been posed, the following information is hereby published:
1. The Solid Waste Fee became effective July 1, 2012.
2. The Solid Waste Fee shall be $5.00 per month per household
charged to every owner or operator of any house, apartment,
rental house, rental residential unit, multiple residential unit,
trailer camp or trailer court.
3. The Solid Waste Fee will be billed twice a year with the regular
Real Estate Tax levy due December 5th and June 5th each year.
The bill may be paid annual at $60.00 or semi-annual at $30.00
per household.
4. The first bills will be mailed out and due December 5, 2012.
This will be a prorated bill for the Year 2012 only, totaling
$30.00.
5. It shall be the responsibility of the owner of recorded or
operators of rental property to notify the Pittsylvania County
Commissioner of Revenue’s office of any vacancies in rental
units within 30 days of receipt of any Solid Waste Fee invoice or
assessment. Vacancies shall be evidenced by assigned and
sworn affidavit of vacancy. The affidavit of vacancy is
available on the County website (www.pittgov.org) under
Commissioner of Revenue.
