PRESS 01.12 PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY REZONINGS & SPECIAL USES CYCLE 251 Public hearings will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After the public hearings, the Planning Commission will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors (“BOS”) and the Board of Zoning Appeals (“BZA”). The schedule contains four (4) Rezoning Applications and two (2) Special Use Permit Applications. The BOS will hold a public hearing and rule on four (4) Rezoning Applications on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. The BZA will hold a public hearing and rule on two (2) Special Use Permit Applications on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. Copies of the proposed Rezoning Applications and Special Use Permit Applications are available for public review in the Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Case 1 Gertrude H. Fifer, R-12-001 – The property is 3.42 acres, located on State Road 638/Harbor Drive, in the Staunton River Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2535-73-5132/19-A-138D. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, for placement of a second dwelling, a single-wide mobile home, for her daughter’s residence. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, B-2, Business District, General, and MHP, Residential Manufactured Housing Park District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case 2 Hosea Stone, Jr., R-12-002 – The property is 0.46 acre, located on State Road 926/Macy Herndon Lane, in the Chatham-Blairs Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1491-16-0361/136-A-8A. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, to combine his three (3) parcels of land and resubdivide to create two (2) parcels. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case 3 Joan M. Hupp Scruggs, R-12-003 – The property is 2.06 acres, located on Coleman Estates Road, in the Westover Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2319-51-8106/151D-1-20A. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, for placement of a second dwelling, a single-wide mobile home, for her granddaughter’s residence. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, RPD, Residential Planned Unit Development District, B-1, Business District, Limited, RMF, Residential Multi-Family District, and MHP, Residential Manufactured Housing Park District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case 4 Bray’s Retail & Rental, Inc., R-12-004 – The properties are a total of 7.23 acres, more or less, six (6) parcels, located on State Road 1076/Clark Street, on U.S. Highway 58/South Boston Highway, and State Road 734/Clarks Mill Road, in the Dan River Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 2347-62-8189/180A-7-149A (2.17 acres), 2347-72-0393/180A-7-157, (0.45 acre), 2347-72-2177/180A-7-164A (1.75 acres), 2347-72-2564/180A-7-141 (1.69 acres), 2347-62-9393/180A-7-153 (0.45 acre), and 2347-72-2370/180A-7-164 (0.72 acre). The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and DZ (R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, General) to B-2, Business District, General for future business development. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, General uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case S-1 Moncie E. Mease, II, S-12-001 – The property is 100 x 100 feet (10,000 square feet), part of 144 acres, more or less, located on Route 40/ West Gretna Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as part of GPIN #s 1570-56-6665/54-A-30 and 1570-46-9511/54-A-42. The properties are zoned A-1, Agricultural District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for a 195 foot telecommunications tower, lattice design, with equipment shelter for Verizon Wireless. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case S-2 James A. Chalmers & Angela Miller Chalmers, S-12-002 – The property is 100 x 100 feet (10,000 square feet), part of 23.03 acres, located off State Road 1431/Neighborhood Road, in the Banister Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as part of GPIN # 2426-38-2613. The property is zoned A-1, Agricultural District. The applicants are requesting a Special Use Permit for a 300 foot telecommunications tower, self-support design, with equipment shelter for Verizon Wireless. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
