PRESS 11.11 PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY REZONINGS, SPECIAL USE & SIGN CYCLE 249 Public hearings will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After the public hearings, the Planning Commission will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors (“BOS”) and the Board of Zoning Appeals (“BZA”). The schedule contains three (3) Rezoning Applications, one (1) Special Use Permit Application, and one (1) Sign Permit Application. The BOS will hold a public hearing and rule on three (3) Rezoning Applications on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. The BZA will hold a public hearing and rule on one (1) Special Use Permit Application and one (1) Sign Permit Application on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. Copies of the proposed Rezoning Applications, Special Use Permit Application, and Sign Permit Application are available for public review in the Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Case 1 R-11-039 - Withdrawn Case 2 Lester A. Strode, R-11-040 – The property is 14.84 acres, located on State Road 719/Lawless Creek Road, in the Westover Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2421-80-8226/139A-11-7. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to B-2, Business District, General, for storage of commercial vehicles relative to his paving company. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, B-2, Business District, General, and M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case 3 Charles F. Edwards & Nancy M. Edwards, R-11-041 – The properties are a total of 2.96 acres, two (2) parcels, located on U.S. Highway 41/Franklin Turnpike, in the Chatham-Blairs Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 2410-44-3220/138-A-33 (0.66 acre) and 2410-44-1049/138B-2-A (2.30 acres). The applicants are requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to B-1, Business District, Limited, for future commercial development (Dollar General Store). The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, B-1, Business District, Limited, B-2, Business District, General, and RMF, Residential Multi-Family District uses. Case 4 Nannie Bett Berger, R-11-042 – The property is 6.61 acres, located off State Road 691/Mill Creek Road, in the Banister Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2427-52-7589/85-A-126K. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, for future subdivision of the property for family members (Exempt from Subdivision Ordinance by Sec. 18.2 of the Pittsylvania County Subdivision Ordinance & Sec. 15.2-2244 A., 15.2-2244.1, State Code of Virginia). The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and A-1, Agricultural District uses. The property is zoned R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for a single-wide mobile home for her elderly friend’s residence. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District uses. Lester, Z-11-001 – The property is 13.40 acres, located on U.S. Highway 29, in the Chatham-Blairs Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2424-20-7548/111-6-G3. The property is zoned M-2, Industrial District, Heavy Industry. The applicants are requesting a Sign Permit for a 10 x 20 (200 square feet), double-sided (total of four (4) panels), illuminated, off-site advertisement sign. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, B-2, Business District, General, and M-2, Industrial District, Heavy Industry uses.
