press 10.11 PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY REZONINGS AND SPECIAL USES CYCLE 248 Public hearings will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After the public hearings, the Planning Commission will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors (“BOS”) and the Board of Zoning Appeals (“BZA”). The schedule contains two (2) Rezoning Applications and two (2) Special Use Permit Applications. The BOS will hold a public hearing and rule on the two (2) Rezoning applications on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. The BZA will hold a public hearing and rule on the two (2) Special Use Permit Applications on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. Copies of the proposed Rezoning Applications and Special Use Permit Applications are available for public review in the Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Case 1 Don Roscoe Gauldin & Joanne Womack Gauldin, R-11-037 – The properties are a total of 20.08 acres, six (6) parcels, located on State Road 1132/Old Mayfield Road, in the Westover Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 1396-61-2037/176-26-10 (5.42 acres), 1396-51-4211/176-26-9 (9.14 acres), 1396-51-9333/176-26-8 (2.02 acres), 1396-51-9486/176-26-7 (1.15 acre), 1396-51-8566/176-26-6 (0.58 acre), and 1396-51-6545/176-26-5 (1.77 acre). The applicants are requesting to rezone from MHP, Residential Manufactured Housing Park District to A-1, Agricultural District, to allow for construction of a dwelling for their personal residence. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, B-2, Business District, General, MHP, Residential Manufactured Housing Park District, and M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry uses. Hancock, R-11-038 – The properties are a total of 10.37 acres, two (2) parcels, located on State Roads 703/Tightsqueeze Road and 1438/Tightsqueeze Industrial Road, in the Tunstall Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 2414-57-9395/111-A-2F (3.02 acres) and 2414-57-7695/111-A-3E (7.35 acres). The applicants are requesting to rezone from M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry, to M-2, Industrial District, Heavy Industry, to obtain a license from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in order to buy salvage vehicles for resale. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, B-2, Business District, General, M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry, M-2, Industrial District, Heavy Industry, and MHP, Residential Manufactured Housing Park District uses. The property is zoned A-1, Agricultural District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for construction of a 24 x 32 (768 square feet) building for a hunting clubhouse and storage building. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case S-2 A. Carolyn Bahr & Charles Sidney Cook, S-11-013 – The property is 47.87 acres, located on State Road 783/Tomahawk Mill Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1478-59-8218/68-1-5. The property is zoned A-1, Agricultural District. The applicants are requesting a Special Use Permit for public power generation (approximately 36 acres of the 47.87 acres to be used). The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District uses.
