press 09.11 PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY REZONINGS AND SPECIAL USES CYCLE 247 Public hearings will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After the public hearings, the Planning Commission will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors (“BOS”) and the Board of Zoning Appeals (“BZA”). The schedule contains four (4) Rezoning Applications and two (2) Special Use Permit Applications. The BOS will hold a public hearing and rule on the four (4) Rezoning Applications on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. The BZA will hold a public hearing and rule on the two (2) Special Use Permit Applications on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. Copies of the proposed Rezoning Applications and Special Use Permit Applications are available for public review in the Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Case 1 Paul D. Walker & Kelly W. Walker, R-11-033 – The property is 1.09 acres (part of 11.44 acres), located on State Road 845/Hill Creek Road, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as part of GPIN # 1461-87-6604/134-A-7J. The applicants are requesting to rezone the RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District portion of the property (approximately 1.09 acres), to A-1, Agricultural District, to make the zoning consistent with the remaining 10.35 acres and to install a swimming pool. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case 2 Bobby R. Pickral, Sr., & Patsy W. Pickral, R-11-034 – The property is 0.53 acre (part of 4.49 acres), located on State Road 790/Piney Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as part of GPIN # 2409-44-8219/71-A-4D. The applicants are requesting to rezone the R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District portion of the property (approximately 0.53 acre), to A-1, Agricultural District, to make the zoning consistent with the remaining 3.96 acres and to allow for construction of an addition to their dwelling. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District uses. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, for placement of a second dwelling, a single-wide mobile home, for rental. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case 4 Archer A. Hyler, R-11-036 – The property is 5.92 acres, located on State Road 876/Mangrums Road, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1368-85-5348/160C-1-16A. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, for future subdivision of the property for family members (Exempt from Subdivision Ordinance by Sec. 18.2 of the Pittsylvania County Subdivision Ordinance & § 15.2-2244, 15.2-2244.1, of the Virginia Code). The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, General uses. The property is zoned R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for placement of a single-wide mobile home for his daughter’s residence. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry, uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case S-2 Rodney Calvin Jones, S-11-011 – The property is 0.43 acre, located on State Road 1002/Warehouse Road, in the Westover Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2420-55-3878/139B-A-8. The property is zoned R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for placement of a single-wide mobile home for his personal residence. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, B-1, Business District, Limited, and B-2, Business District, General uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
