Board Ad - November 2023PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY CITIZENS NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room, 39 Bank Street, Chatham, Virginia, on the following ZONING matters: Case R-23-026 – Requested by the Board of Supervisors Pittsylvania County Virginia, to rezone property located on US Highway 29, in the Chatham-Blairs Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN # 2423-19-0816. The applicant is requesting to rezone 32.26 acres, from A-1, Agricultural District, to M-2, Industrial District, Heavy Industry, to allow for a public facility (correctional facility). Once the property is rezoned to M-2, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-402 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Medium to High Density Residential and Commercial uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case R-23-027 – Requested by Connie Sue Gardner Horsley, to rezone property located on Primitive Baptist Road West, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN # 1461-62-5579. The applicant is requesting to rezone 43.00 acres, from A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, to allow for the placement of a doublewide mobile home. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential and Commercial uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development. Case CP-23-001 The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to gather public input on the proposed amendment of the Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Designation Map from Industrial to Mixed Commercial/Industrial initiated by the Board of Supervisors of Pittsylvania County for twenty-one (21) parcels, totaling 224.53 acres, located on or off of State Road 360/ Old Richmond Road and US Highway 29/Danville Expressway and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN #s 2328-95-6960, 2328-95-7822, 2328-95-8280, 2328-95-9467, 2328-95-9585, 2328-97-6639, 2338- 03-1793, 2338-04-0302, 2338-05-0056, 2338-05-0135, 2338-05-0256, 2338-05-0676, 2338-05-0773, 2338-05-0888, 2338-05-0980, 2338-05-1413, 2338-05-3600, 2338-05-3666, 2338-05-3775, 2338-05- 5127 and 2338-14-7104. During the public hearing, concerns from interested citizens supporting or opposing these matters will be solicited. The applications are on file and can be viewed in the Pittsylvania County Community Development Office, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
