RESOLUTION
2007-12-81
WHEREAS, The Honorable G. Harold Plaster has served the citizens of
Pittsylvania County and the Commonwealth of Virginia for 39 years providing
management, guidance and direction; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable G. Harold Plaster was elected Sheriff of Pittsylvania
County beginning January of 1992, wherein he has made numerous improvements to the
Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office providing significant advancements in the area of law
enforcement, including improvements to the staff, the technology, and the operations; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable G. Harold Plaster has served as president of the
Virginia Sheriff's Association, while also serving with the National Sheriff's Association,
Virginia Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L. T.), Virginia Criminal Justice
Services Board, the Virginia Interagency Radio Board, the Piedmont Regional Training
Academy Board, and the Virginia Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Advisory
Committee; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable G. Harold Plaster, through faithful service, wise
counsel, and experience, has contributed substantially to the advancement of the quality
of life of the citizens of Pittsylvania County; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable G. Harold Plaster will be retiring from Public
Service on December 31, 2007, ending a long prestigious and honorable career; then
BE IT HEREBYRESOLVED, that the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors
expresses its sincere appreciation for his outstanding contributions and services to the
citizens of Pittsylvania County and the Commomvealth of Virginia for the past 39 years,
and wish him all the best in his retirement; then
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors directs that a copy
of this resolution be presented to the Honorable G. Harold Plaster on behalf of the
Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Pittsylvania County.
