Town of Hurt - 40th AnniversaryPITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RESOLUTION 2007-09-69 WHEREAS, the Town of Hurt, Virginia, was incorporated in 1967 from a land grant from John L. Hurt, Jr.; and WHEREAS, land incorporating the Town of Hurt was originally a land grant from King George II to Benjamin Clements of Clement Hill, showing the significance of history in this Southside community; and WHEREAS, the Town of Hurt consists of 2.73 square miles with a population of 1,276 people; it represents a warm, hospitable and thriving community in the northern end of Pittsylvania County, Virginia; and WHEREAS, the Town of Hurt, Virginia is celebrating its 40th anniversary as an incorporated political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia; then BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, .that the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, on the behalf of all of the citizens of Pittsylvania County, express their congratulations and support for the Town of Hurt on its 40th birthday and wish the Town and all of its inhabitants a very successful and thriving future in northern Pittsylvania County; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, a copy of this resolution be presented to the Town Council of the Town of Hurt on behalf of the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors.
