Piedmont Bio Products Bid SupportPITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
RESOLUTION
2007-08-65
WHEREAS, .Piedmont Bio Products is an emerging and expanding
technologically based industry in Pittsylvania County; and
WHEREAS, Piedmont Bio Products has worked with the Center for Innovative
Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Tech and the Institute for
Advanced Learning and Research in Danville to develop a program for producing a
renewable resource that provides a product for reducing America's dependency on oil;
and
WHEREAS, Piedmont Bio Products has leveraged additional investment from
the Tobacco Idemnification Commission and the Center for Innovative Technology to
support programs and products that secure farm based feed stock grown by members of
the Piedmont Producers Agricultural Cooperative, thus expanding and supporting the
agricultural development base of Pittsylvania County; and
WHEREAS, the development and construction of the refineries necessary for
development of bio crude oil requires significant investments and leverage against those
investments to expand and build the necessary facilities for providing this product; now
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Pittsylvania County Board of
Supervisors supports the overall mission of Piedmont Bio Products, LLC and supports
their application for leveraged funds and the generation of new incomes to help provide
the funding necessary to expand this industry and support agricultural industry in
Pittsylvania County.
