Southern Rivers Watershed Enhancement ProgramPITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development
has a grant program entitled Southern Rivers Watershed Enhancement Program, designed
to help alleviate problems in .the existing water and sewer service areas in Southside,
Virginia, that may be causing ...pollution to the southern rivers watersheds including their
tributaries; and
WHEREAS, The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors and Pittsylvania
County Service Authority have.-been requested by the residents of Lakeside Drive in
Pittsylvania :County to help provide relief to the :failing community septic field off of
Lakeside Drive which is causing .runoff into Fall Creek that runs directly into the Dan
River; and
WHEREAS, this- project would ,qualify'` for the Southern Rivers Watershed
Enhancement Program Grant;'and
WHEREAS, improvements to Lakeside" Drive would provide adequate health
benefits and sanitary sewer service to thirty-five; (35) residents of Pittsylvania County and
eliminate a current contamination source from a failing septic field ;then
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors
authorized the County Administrator to file - the required grant application to the
Department of Housing and Community Development and authorized the County
Administrator to sign all necessary documentation.
Upon the motion of Mr. William H: Pritchett, and second by 1VIr. Tim R. Barber this
Resolution was unanimous, approved on June 19, 2007.
