Whereas, the Virginia Employment .Commission provides a major workforce
support and collection databank for communities in which they operate, and
Whereas, .Danville and Pittsylvania County have been at the .top of the state
unemployment for a'number of months, and
Wherreas, the Virginia Employment Commission Office in Danville, Virginia is
an absolute necessity for the Danville-Pittsylvania workforce and economic development
program, then
Be ~t;1FIereby Resolved, hat the pittsylvania County Boardao~Supervisors jointly
with the City Council of the` City of Danville emphatically opposes; 'the closing of .the
Virginia Employment Commission Office in Danville and requests the General Assembly
and the Governor's Office to .insure that this valuable entity remains open due'to the high
unemployment rate and the nece nary support it provides fir this community.
