RESOLUTION
2007-OS-34
WHEREAS, The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors met in adjourned
session on Monday, April 30, 2007 in the Pittsylvania County School Board Conference
Room to review and approve an annual budget for Fiscal Year 2008, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors _,approved Resolution # 2007-04-33
establishing and setting a increase in the general tax-levy of the county for real estate.
mobile homes and generating equipment, and
WHEREAS, Section 6-1.2, Tax Levy of Pittsylvania County, establishes a bi-
annual tax payment for taxes due in Pittsylvania County and in accordance with Section
6-1.2, Subsection A, taxes would have been' due orz June 5, and
WHEREAS, this is the first year for the bi-annual tax payment and to insure that
the taxpayers have adequate time to receive the new tax bill from the proposed action of
April 30, 2007 and to meet the criteria of Section 6-1.2 of the Pittsylvania County Code,
and Section 58.1-3916 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, authorizes the Board
of Supervisors, by resolution, to extend the time, not to exceed 90 days, for the payment
of real estate, personal property, machinery and tools, merchants capital and motor
vehicle fees, then
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors
in accordance with the required statutory authority' cited above, the Board of Supervisors
hereby extends the deadline for taxes due for tax year 2007 from June 5, 2007 until June
30, 2007, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors require the Clerk
of the Board send.. a certified copy of this resolution to the Treasurer and Commissioner
of Revenue for Pittsylvania County..
