Virginia TechPITTSYLVANIA COUNTYBOARD OFSUPERVISORS RESOLUTION # 2007-04-32 WHEREAS, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and Pittsylvania County have always shared a close partnership in academic development and support for agricultural industries in Pittsylvania County provided by Virginia Tech 's Extension Service and the staff and faculty of Virginia Tech, and WHEREAS, the staff, faculty and student body of Virginia Tech on Monday, April 16, 2007 experienced a series of horrific and traumatizing incidents on the campus of Virginia Tech resulting in the loss of a number of staff, faculty and students in an incident that will long be remembered by all Virginians, and WHEREAS, this event took the lives of a number of well respected faculty and student leaders of tomorrow, and WHEREAS, Virginia Tech has always been a leader in the growth, strength and support of the Commonwealth of Virginia, then BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED; that the Board of Supervisors of Pittsylvania County expresses sorrow and condolences to the members of the families who lost loved ones in this incident and offers support and prayers to uplift those family members and the student body of Virginia Tech in this time of need, and FURTHER, the Board of Supervisors expresses their continued support to Virginia Tech in its efforts to rebuild, reunite and heal the student body of the Virginia Tech.
