Support of Nursing Home Beds in Chatham Health & Rehabilitation CenterPITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Virginia Certificate of Public Law Provides that only under
certain circumstances will opportunities become available for new nursing home beds to
be constructed in Planning Districts around the State; and....
WHEREAS, the ..greatest need for additional nursing home beds within Planning
District 12 is in the Town of Chatham in Pittsylvania County; and
WHEREAS, there is asignficant mal-distribution of nursing home-beds between
the Town of Chatham, Pittsylvania-County and the other jurisdictions in the Planning
District 12; and
,WHEREAS, Chatham's Town Council, Smith/Packett and the ...West Piedmont
Health Investors, LLC are greatly concerned about the present and future needs for
nursing home beds for its residents; and
WHEREAS, applications will be 'considered by the Virginia Department of
Health and,the Southwest Virginia Health Systems Agency to construct nursing home
beds in the Town of Chatham; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Supervisors of
Pittsylvania County, the Town of Chatham, SmithlPackett and the West Piedmont Health
Investors, LLC fully support construction of nursing home beds in the Chatham Health
and Rehabilitation Center in the Town of Chatham.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Pittsylvania
County supports the application of the West Piedmont Health Investors, LLC seeking to
construct nursing home beds in the Town of Chatham.
