RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF THE 2007
TOBACCO APPLICATION FOR PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY
FOR SPECIAL PROJECT FUNDS
WHEREAS, Pittsylvana County has been working with Henry County to develop
Infrastructure to help offset the negative impact on economic development and growth
throughout the County from the decline of the' Tobacco and Furniture Industries; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification Community Revitalization
Commission has developed an economic development ;program! to help tobacco related
localities to change and revitalize their economy particularly with Special Project Funds;
and
WHEREAS, Pittsylvania County is working with Henry County and the City of
Martinsville to provide water service to the East corridor of Henry County and the West
corridor of Pittsylvania County,. particularly to the Brosville Industrial Park; then
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the-=Board of Supervisors of Pittsylvania
County authorizes.. the submission of this Special Project Application for U:S. Route 58
West waterline and from the Pittsylvania County Line to the Axton Tank, and authorizes
the County Administrator to file this application and all necessary correspondence relating
to the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification Community Revitalization Commission required
by this grant and' to be responsible for the accuracy of the., application and for the
appropriate use of funds, should they be granted.
