RESOLUTION
2009-10-06
WHEREAS, Vallie A. Marsh was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, on
November 1, 1909; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Vallie Adkins Marsh was the oldest of ten children born of
Tyree York Adkins and Cora Laughlin Adkins; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Vallie A. Marsh walked to attend the local community school
as there was no bus transportation to school at that time; and
WHEREAS, Vallie Marsh was married to Richard "Tom" Marsh, with whom she
had 2 sons; Eddie Marsh and Frank Marsh; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Marsh has lived in Pittsylvania County her entire life; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Marsh has been an active member of the Millcreek Baptist
Church for many years; and
WHEREAS, being a lifelong homemaker, Mrs. Vallie A. Marsh enjoyed raising
her own garden until2 years ago and until2 months ago, lived on her own, doing her own
housekeeping; then
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Pittsylvania
County Board of Supervisors express their sincere congratulations to Vallie A. Marsh as
she has reaches her 100`h year milestone on November 1, 2009; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors directs that a
copy of this resolution be presented to Vallie A. Marsh on the behalf of the Board and the
Citizens of Pittsylvania County.
