RESOLUTION
2009-09-02
WHEREAS, Lenard D. Lackey, Jr., started as Executive Director of the Danville-
Pittsylvania Community Services Board on July 21, 1986, taking over the direction of 60 staff
members and a$2 million annual budget; and
WHEREAS, Lenard D. Lackey, Jr., has spent his entire professional career dedicated to
the assistance of people who have mental illnesses, intellectual disabilities, or substance abuse
problems helping them to unlock their potential for a higher and better quality of life; and
WHEREAS, Lenard D. Lackey, Jr., has lead the Danville-Pittsylvania Community
Services Board from a staff of 60 with a$2 million annual budget to the current employment
of over 250 staff inembers with a$15 million annual budget servicing 18 sites in the City and
the County; and
WHEREAS, Lenard D. Lackey's leadership and support of the Community Services
Board Program has provided services to both adults and children with special needs,
improving their quality of life and providing them an assurance for a brighter future; and
WHEREAS, Lenard D. Lackey, Jr., has provided the leadership and guidance to his
staff to service thousands of people over the past 23 years to where Danville-Pittsylvania
Community Services Board touches one out of 10 people living in Pittsylvania County and the
City of Danville; then
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors
express their sincere appreciation for the exemplary leadership and dedication of Lenard D.
Lackey, Jr., in his management and leadership of the Danville-Pittsylvania Community
Services Board and wish him well upon his retirement in 2009; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to
Lenard D. Lackey, Jr., on the behalf of the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors and the
citizens of Pittsylvania County.
