COUNTY ATTORNEY's EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT AMENDMENT#1
The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors ("Board")adopted the following Resolution
at its Business Meeting on December 21, 2021:
WHEREAS, the Board desires to continue the employment of J. Vaden Hunt, Esq.
("Hunt"), as County Attorney for Pittsylvania County,Virginia, and the Board;and
WHEREAS,the Board desires to amend its Employment Agreement ("Agreement") with
Hunt executed on April 21,2020.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board approves the following
amendments to Hunt's Agreement:
1. Section 2 (A): increase current salary by five percent (5%); said salary increase
shall be based on the combined current total of base salary and vehicle allowance;
2. Add the following to Agreement as Section 2(E): "The parties hereto agree that the
Employee's annualized salary (meaning based salary and vehicle allowance combined) shall be
increased by the same percentage as approved by the Board of Supervisors for merit increases for
County employees as a whole following an above-average Employee performance evaluation
throughout the Agreement's term;"
3. Add the following to Agreement as Section 2(F): "In addition to the annual salary
paid to the Employee, the County will annually contribute a total equal to five percent (5%) of
Employee's current annual compensation (defined as the total of based salary and vehicle
allowance) as deferred compensation to the retirement plan selected by the Employee on January
1st of each year Employee is employed with County; said payment shall be in additional and not
in lieu of salary;"
4. Section 6(A): increase severance provisions to nine (9) months; and
5. Section 18: increase vehicle allowance to five hundred dollars ($500.00) per
month.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board and Hunt agree that all other provisions
of his April 21, 2020, Agreement remain unchanged and remain in full legal force and effect;and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Board has caused this Resolution/Amendment to
be signed and executed by the Board's Chairman and the Chairman of the Board's Personnel
Committee, and Hunt has signed and executed the same, in duplicate, the day and year written
below.
