RESOLUTION GRANTING COUNTY EMPLOYEES THAT EXHAUST ALL EARNED
BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS ELIGIBLE FOR DUE TO COVID-19 AN
ADDITIONAL TWELVE (12)WEEKS OF EMPLOYER-PAID HEALTH INSURANCE
The following Resolution was adopted at the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors
("Board")Regular Business Meeting on February 16, 2021:
WHEREAS, long term impacts of COVID-19 on County employees are unknown; and
WHEREAS,many County employees have a higher instance of potential exposure due to
working conditions; and
WHEREAS,it may be necessary for County employees to file a Worker's Compensation
Claim due to contracting COVID-19 while at work; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly has not adequately addressed Worker's
Compensation rules relating to contracting COVID-19 while at work; and
WHEREAS, the Board has extended use of the Employee Sick Bank for COVID-19
related illness; and
WHEREAS, the Board has additionally extended eighty (80) hours of COVID-19 leave
until March 31, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to provide extended health insurance benefits to County
employees that have exhausted all earned leave and eligible entitlements eligible resulting from a
COVID-19 related illness.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that any County employee that exhausts all
earned benefits and eligible entitlements due to COVID-19 related illness is hereby granted an
additional twelve(12)weeks of employer-paid health insurance; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution, and all the benefits contained
herein, are only available to County employees that have filed a Worker's Compensation Claim
resulting from a COVID-19 illness; and
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that this Resolution, and all benefits contained herein, will
end on December 31, 2021; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this Resolution, and all benefits contained herein, is
retroactively effective to February 1, 2021.
