Proclamation
Trey Edmunds
May 4, 2018
WHEREAS: Ferrell "Trey" Edmunds III is a 23 -year-old male who is a native of Pittsylvania County; and
WHEREAS, Trey Edmunds, son of Ferrell Edmunds Jr. and Felecia Edmunds, was a resident of the Ringgold
community in Pittsylvania County, and a 2012 graduate of Dan River High School where he was a Graduate of
Merit and also received the Principal's Award; and
WHEREAS, Edmunds was named the 2011 Danville Register & Bee All -Metro football offensive player of the year
and was named first -team offense in both Region B and the Dogwood District, as well as named to the Parade
Magazine All-American team in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Edmunds was a two-time State Champion in track for the 2011 and 2012 years, and also totaled
1,000 points for Dan River High School Basketball; and
WHEREAS, Edmunds attended and played college football at Virginia Tech from 2013-2015 and the University of
Maryland in 2016; and
WHEREAS, he made his collegiate debut against Alabama and had 20 carries for 132 rushing yards and a
rushing touchdown; and
WHEREAS, through the efforts of many years of practice and dedication, Edmunds signed as a running back
with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 15, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Trey Edmunds, along with his two brothers, Terrell and Tremaine, are all part of the NFL and have
performed admirably throughout their journey, bringing recognition not only to himself, but to his family, his
school, and to Pittsylvania County; then
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors expresses its congratulations and admiration to
Trey Edmunds on becoming a player for the NFL; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this proclamation be presented to Trey Edmunds and made part of the
County's permanent record.
