10-08-2015 LEPC MinutesDANVILLE/PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2015 MINUTES The regular meeting of the Danville/Pittsylvania County Local Emergency Planning Committee was held on Thursday, October 8, 2015, 12:00 pm at Mary’s Diner, Danville, VA. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Steve Dishman. PRESENT Steve Bowman, Pitt Co Fire Marshal Philip Broadfoot, Danville Chief of Police Scott Budd, Pitt Co IT Dept James Davis, Coordinator Pitt Co Emer Management Steve Dishman, Danville Asst Fire Chief Barry Dunkley, Director Danville Utilities David Eagle, Danville Fire Chief Christopher Garrett, Coordinator VA Dept of Health Bobbie Grogan, Southern VA Mental Health Daniel Kendrick, Pitt Co Emergency Management Stephanie LaPrade, Southern Area Agency on Aging Joann Luck, Pitt Co Emergency Management Clarence Monday, County Administrator Pitt Co Barry Neal, Battalion Chief City of Danville Rick Scoppa, HEPACO Al Smith, CERT Coordinator City of Danville Eddie Walker, CERT Pitt Co Whitt Hamrick, Sgt VA State Police Mike White, Dan/Pitt County American Red Cross Betty G. Bryant, Pitt Co Emergency Management Mr. Dishman asked if we had any visitor. Mike White, American Red Cross introduced himself to the LEPC group. A motion was made by Barry Dunkley, seconded by Steve Bowman, unanimously carried to approve minutes of August 13, 2015 LEPC Meeting. Danville/Pitt Co LEPC October 13, 2015 Page 2 Chairperson’s Report: Mr. Dishman discussed hurricane Joaquin, planning and preparedness that done. A lot of things were in place and was ready to activate if needed. Chris Garrett, Health Dept discussed Patrick County received about eighteen inches of rain. Discussed the impact that was received in that area. Jim Davis advised that the County had twenty-six roads with high water and trees down across roads. With the help of County Fire Dept and VDOT that was taken care of. Had about $275,000.00 in crop damage in the county. Mr. Davis is looking into obtaining damage assistance software. Barry Dunkley discussed what was done at Danville Water Treatment Plant preparing for the storm and the additional water. Subcommittee Reports: CERT: Al Smith, Danville CERT was asked to come to Stuart VA to assist in getting a CERT started. The program was started and had twenty people in the class. Eddie Walker, Pitt Co CERT advised he has a total of fifty-six students in three schools in the county. Hazmat Report: Barry Neal advised they attend the VA Association of Hazardous Material Response Teams. When they got back had several calls in the City. Discussed the different incident that has happen in the City and how they were handled. Unfinished Business: None New Business: None Mike White, Red Cross if the he or if you need Red Cross help in any way please just give them a call. They will help in any way they can.
