The regular meeting of the Pittsylvania County and Danville Local Emergency
Planning Committee was held on Thursday, August 13, 2015, 12:00 pm at C&E’s
Restaurant, Gretna, VA. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Steve
Dishman.

Mr. Dishman asked if we have any first time guest. Barry Neal with Danville Fire
Dept introduced himself.
A motion was made by Barry Dudley, seconded by Scott Budd, unanimously
carried to approve the Minutes of June 11, 2015.
Chairperson’s Report: Chairman Dishman advised that he was not aware of any
major events that had occurred since the last meeting.
Vice Chairperson’s Report: Jim Davis advised he received an email this week
from EPA to all LEPC group if we know of any facilities that needs a surprise
inspections let them know.
Subcommittee Report:
CERT:
Al Smith, Danville CERT, was not present
Eddie Walker, Pittsylvania County CERT, attended a School Safety conference in
Hampton last week. Last Thursday had open house at Dan River and Tunstall
Middle Schools for the CERT Program. CERT classes will start on September 14,
2015.
Hazmat Report:
Steve Dishman introduced Battalion Chief Barry Neal, City of Danville Fire Dept.
Barry Neal will be taking over the Hazmat operations for the city. Barry Neal
discussed team training schedule that they have had and will be having.
Barry Lynch, Caswell NC, EMS discussed accident that happens Wednesday,
August 12 on Rt 86 just south of Danville. Truck was filled with 9,000 gallons of
propane. Several homes in the area were evacuated but truck tank showed no
signs of leaking.

New business:
Scott Veselicky with DTI gave a presentation. He expanded that DTI is a specialty
chemical contract for hire. They take hazardous chemical and manufacturer a
non-hazardous chemical for use.
