MINUTES
The regular meeting of the Danville/Pittsylvania County LEPC was held on Thursday, February 12
2015, 12:00 p.m. at Mary’s Diner Restaurant, Danville, VA. The meeting was called to order by
Chairperson Steve Dishman.

Mr. Dishman asked if we had any first time guest. Sherri Dillow with American Red Cross introduced
herself.
A motion was made by Barry Dunkley, seconded by Steve Bowman, and unanimous, carried to
approve the minutes of December 11, 2014.

Jim Davis ,Vice Chairperson, reported last year he was working with the VA Dept. of Emergency
Management on updating the Emergency Operations Plan for the County. Very little changes had to be
made. He would like authorization from the LEPC Committee to go ahead with the next process and
present to the Supervisors for re-adoption.
A motion was made by Jim Davis, seconded and by unanimous vote, to go ahead to Board of
Supervisors for re-adoption.
Steve Dishman reported that the City of Danville will be doing their table top exercise on March 26,
2015.
CERT REPORTS:
Al Smith reported they have completed two CERT Classes in the City of Danville. Danville/Pittsylvania
County Community Services and Westmorland Senior Apartment Residents. Also have a Sky Warning
Class schedule for March 31, at Averett University. Will be sending out additional information and will
be open to everyone.
Eddie Walker, Pittsylvania County CERT Program had no report.
Steve Dishman gave Hazmat report. We have almost completed the last of the purchases on the grant
for this year and are in the process with a grant for this year in the same amount of $31,000.00. Grants
are for upgrading hazmat equipment.

Next meeting is scheduled for April 9, 2015, 12:00PM, C & E’s Restaurant, Gretna, Va.
Tim Love, Danville Utilities, Water & Gas Department ,advised they will be hosting a Damage
Prevention Class on Tuesday, February 24th at Mary’s Diner. The meeting to discuss ways and practices
to prevent underground excavation damages from happening.
