12-08-2011 LEPC MinutesDANVILLE/PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2011 MINUTES The quarterly meeting of the Danville/Pittsylvania County Local Emergency Planning Committee was held on Thursday, December 8, 2011, 12:00 p.m. at C & E’s Restaurant, Gretna, VA. Jim Davis called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. and Jim Davis gave the invocation. Bryant, Pitt Co Emergency Management & Communications GUEST Devin Taylor, Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Mike Jones, WHGA, Inc Linette Nuckols, American Red Cross Mr. Jim Davis asked for nomination from the floor for Chairman of the LEPC. A motion was made by Buster Brown, seconded, unanimously carried for Chief Eagle to service as Chairman of the LEPC. A motion was made by Buster Brown, seconded, unanimously carried for Steve Bowman to service as Vice-Chairman of the LEPC. Also noted that the who ever is the Chairman of the LEPC for that fiscal year the secretary from that jurisdiction will do the minutes. Election will always be held in the month of December. The minutes of each meeting will be posted on the website for public information. Mr. Davis advised that we will only be paying for a primary and authority attendance from each agency. If more than two people come from your organization come they will be expected to pay. A motion was made by Steve Bowman, seconded, to approve the minutes of October 13, 2011. Discussion, if you were present at the October meeting and your name is not on the members present you need to email Ms. Satterfield or Chief Eagle. Amend motion was made by Steve Bowman, seconded, unanimously carried to approve the minutes of October 13, 2011 with the additional of people present. The By-Laws have been sent out to everyone, Chief Eagle and Jim Davis had to make some corrections because of the reorganization inside the city that has taken place. Mr. Davis filed in the Pittsylvania County Circuit Court Clerk Office a copy of the By- Laws. Chief Eagle will have to do the same in the City of Danville. We also received approval from the State on the merger. Mr. Jim Davis introduced Mike Jones from William H. Gordon Associates, Inc. and Mr. Jones gave a presentation on his line of work. Mr. Davis advised that we will vote on a later date to include Mike Jones to be a part of this Committee. Chief Eagle advised that the City of Danville is going through a transition and the Dept of Emergency Services in the City is in the process or being merged with the Fire Dept. However, Buster Brown will be in the E-911 Center and will focus in that area and Asst Chief Steve Dishman will be overseeing Emergency Management. By this Committee the By-Laws states that the Emergency Coordinator and the Deputy Emergency Coordinator will alternate officer’s positions which will himself and Steve Dishman.
