The meeting started approximately at 12:30 pm, after everyone had the chance to go through the lunch buffet line.  Chief Eagle then asked for the approval of the last meeting’s minutes, and they were approved with the appropriate motions.  The Danville Emergency Management Report was given by Bernard Brown. The City just finished up Hurricane Preparedness month, and then went into the 4th  The Haz Mat Coordinator’s Report was given by Battalion Chief, Scott McNeely. Scott stated that they have been working off of three state grants (08, 09, &10) for funding vehicles. They have pretty much closed out the 08 grant that was used for a new Haz Mat 2 vehicle. They also have upgraded one of two vehicles that is capable of pulling trailers. The 09 grant which is the trailer itself has been delivered; the only thing that needs to be done now is to put shelving units into the truck. They have sent specs out so that they can carry their equipment. The Fire Department just had team competitions for training to get back to the basics of everyday procedures, which is a state mandate. There will also be a night time drill, tentatively set for July annual CPR & AED awareness week, which brought us through June 7. If you are interested in having CPR and AED training in your business, contact Buster to get in touch with instructors. Buster has also been contacted by Bruce Allen with Severn Trent. They want to have a table top drill for risk management training. There is no set time or place for the table top drill, but Buster will contact everyone when it is set up. LEPC Joint Meeting Minutes June 2, 2011 Mary’s Diner – 12:00 pm 29. This drill will be used to test skills and ability of firefighters, and will be done with several different surrounding agencies.  Al Smith gave a brief report on Danville CERT. The City has completed Teen CERT, and is in the process of getting National Night Out planned with Corporal Scearce. There has been some training with the neighborhood watch program too. Eddie Walker did not have anything new for the County CERT.  Then Chief Eagle discussed the status of the merge with the County. He hopes to have everything covered by the August meeting in the County. There will need to be approval from both governing bodies. Jim Davis will take it before the Board of Supervisors, and Chief Eagle will present to the City at the July Council meeting. That may delay us, but we will continue meeting until it is sent to the state with VDEM as one regional, governing body.  There was also some discussion about a new program at the Southern Agency on Aging by Stephanie LaPrade. The agency is in Martinsville, and they are doing a temporary Fan program for seniors or low income individuals.  The new armored vehicle, that was discussed by Chief Broadfoot at the last meeting, is now here and up and running. This vehicle is vital to the region, and has a self-contained breathing apparatus for hazardous situations.  Chief Eagle then asked if there was any other discussion for the good of the meeting and adjourned the meeting, at approximately 1:00pm. Respectfully submitted, Kelley Greeson Senior Secretary, Danville Emergency Services
