CITIZENS INFORMATION MEETINGS
Danville – Pittsylvania MPO Transportation Studies
DANVILLE-PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA
The Danville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is conducting studies for improving
the transportation in the Danville-Pittsylvania Urbanized Area. The process of developing these
studies includes opportunities for citizen involvement, and the schedules for the final meetings
for each study are detailed below.
The purpose of these meetings is to present recommended improvements. At each meeting
material to be presented will include maps, aerial photographs, and other exhibits. Citizens will
be encouraged to express their comments and concerns related to the recommended
improvements. Both staff and consultants will be available at each meeting to answer questions.
The meeting dates, times, and locations for each of the two studies are:
1. Moorefield Bridge Road Study: A planning level study to evaluate
improvements along the existing alignment of Moorefield Bridge Road (Route 863).
The Study Area will consist of Route 863 between and including its intersection with
Mount Cross Road (Route 750) and Westover Drive (VA 51). The intent of the evaluation
will be to define the most advantageous locations for spot improvements as well as to
determine the need for signalized traffic control (in addition to the optimal intersection
configuration) at the intersection of Route 863 and Route 750. The final meeting of the
Moorefield Bridge Road Study is scheduled for:

2. Kentuck Road Study: A planning level study to evaluate improvements along a portion
of the existing alignment of Kentuck Road (Route 729). The Study Area will consist of
Route 729 between and including its intersection with Little Creek Road (Route 732) and
South Boston Road (US 58). The final meeting of the Kentuck Road Study is scheduled
for:
