Public hearings will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After
the public hearings, the Planning Commission will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors (“BOS”) and the Board of Zoning Appeals (“BZA”). The schedule contains five (5) Rezoning
Applications and two (2) Special Use Permit Applications. The BOS will hold a public hearing and rule on five (5) Rezoning Applications on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in
the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. The BZA will hold a public hearing and rule on two (2) Special Use Permit Applications
on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. Copies of the proposed Rezoning
Applications and Special Use Permit Applications are available for public review in the Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00
a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Case 1 Paul W. Haymes & Linda T. Haymes, R-11-043 – The property is 37.96 acres (part of 38.89 acres), located on State Road 62/Milton Highway, in the Dan River Election District and
shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as part of GPIN # 2366-18-2627. The applicants are requesting to rezone the R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District portion (approximately
37.96 acres), to A-1, Agricultural District, to make the property one zoning district and for agricultural use (pastureland and hay). The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable
for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, General uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the
density of allowable development.
Case 2 Allen Thomas Clay & Norma Jean Clay, R-11-044 – The property is 3.25 acres (part of 7.44 acres), located on State Road 794/Old Mine Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District
and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as part of GPIN # 2500-75-0596/57-A-4A. The applicants are requesting to rezone the R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District portion
(approximately 3.25 acres), to A-1, Agricultural District, to make the property one zoning district. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District,
and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case 4 Ted Rosemund Clifton & Sandra A. Clifton, R-11-046 – The properties are a total of 4.19 acres, three (3) parcels, located on State Road 928/Spruse Road, in the Callands-Gretna
Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 1468-98-0500/68-A-14 (2.19 Acres), 1468-97-4908/68-A-17B (1.00 Acre), and 1468-98-2034/68-A-17A (1.00 Acre).
The applicants are requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, to acquire additional property to add to their existing parcel
in order to place a double-wide mobile home for their personal residence on the property and for possible subdivision of the property in the future to convey the existing dwelling to
their son. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance
standards shall control the density of allowable development.
Case 5 Mark Steven Clifton, R-11-047 – The property is 1.17 acres, located off State Road 928/Spruse Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County
Tax Maps as GPIN # 1468-88-9777/68-A-16. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, to combine with a
portion of the adjacent parcel of land to be rezoned to A-1, Agricultural District. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential
Suburban Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
Case 6 Hammock Farms, LLC, R-11-048 – The property is 2.00 acres (part of 80.06 acres), located on State Road 928/Spruse Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District and shown on the
Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as part of GPIN # 1478-07-4967/68-A-17F. The applicant is requesting to rezone the R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District portion (approximately
2.00 acres), to A-1, Agricultural District, to make the property one zoning district. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1,
Residential Suburban Subdivision District uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
Case S-1 David L. Price, Life Tenant, Elnora Keatts Price, Life Tenant, & Angela Renee P. Davis, Remainderman, S-11-015 – The property is 0.28 acre, located on Highway 29 Business/North
Main Street, Chatham, VA 24531, in the Banister Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2426-17-0454/85D-A-53A. The property is zoned R-1, Residential
Suburban Subdivision District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for non-emergency medical transport. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural
District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, B-1, Business District, Limited, M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry, and RMF, Residential Multi-Family District uses.
Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
Case S-2 Kenneth Wayne Gibson, S-11-016 – The property is 19.02 acres, located off U.S. Highway 29 North, in the Staunton River Election District, and shown on the Pittsylvania County
Tax Maps as GPIN # 2533-28-5538/32-A-65. The property is zoned A-1, Agricultural District. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for an electrical public substation. The
Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, and
B-2, Business District, General uses. Zoning conditions and ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

The Pittsylvania County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, to receive citizen input and make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to
amend the Pittsylvania County Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 35-Zoning, DIVISION 3, RESIDENTIAL SUBURBAN SUBDIVISION DISTRICT (R-1) SEC. 35-223. SPECIAL USE PERMITS. to delete the following:
Public Garages. The
meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, of the Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition in Chatham, Virginia. A copy of the proposed change will be
available for review in the Office of the County Administrator, 21 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, and the Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between
the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
