REGULAR MEETING
January 11, 2011
MINUTES
VIRGINIA: The Pittsylvania County Board of Zoning Appeals met on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, in the General District Courtroom, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia.
Mr. Easley called the meeting to order at approximately 6:30 p.m. Mr. Merricks gave the invocation. Mr. Shelton called the roll.

APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN & VICE CHAIRMAN FOR THE YEAR 2011
By motion of Mr. Merricks, seconded by Ms. Glass, and by unanimous vote Mr. Talbott was elected Chairman and Mr. Easley was elected Vice Chairman for the year 2011.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
By motion of Mr. Yeaman, seconded by Ms. Glass, and by unanimous vote the Minutes of the December 14, 2010, meeting were approved as presented.
Old Business
There was no old business.
New Business
Mr. Shelton reported there would be one Special Use case for the February cycle.
The Board discussed changing the agenda to reflect that the business meeting and the public hearing would begin at 7:00 p.m. Upon motion of Mr. Merricks, seconded by Mr. Reynolds, and
by unanimous vote the agenda will be changed to reflect that the business meeting and public hearing will begin at 7:00 p.m.

THE ZONING PRECEPTS WERE READ BY Mr. Easley to OPEN THE PUBLIC HEARING at
approximately 7:00 p.m.
Case S-1, Continued.
Case S-2, Kenneth & Kimberly Garrison, S-11-002 – Mr. Talbott opened the public hearing at approximately 7:01 p.m. Mr. Shelton, Director of Code Compliance, reported Kenneth & Kimberly
Garrison had petitioned for a Special Use Permit on .70 acre, located on State Road 755/Mercury Road in the Staunton River Election District for placement of a single-wide mobile home
for their personal residence. Kenneth & Kimberly Garrison were present to represent the petition. Mr. Garrison stated that he wanted to downsize. There was no opposition to the petition.
Mr. Talbott closed the public hearing at approximately 7:03 p.m. The Board discussed the petition as the Committee of the Whole and determined that there were no adverse effects.
Upon motion of Mr. Yeaman, seconded by Mr. Reynolds, the following motion was adopted: Whereas, Kenneth George Garrison, Jr., and Kimberly D. Garrison have petitioned the Board of
Zoning Appeals for a Special Use Permit for a single-wide mobile home for their personal residence and, Whereas, we find no substantial detriment to adjacent property, that the character
of the zoning district will not be changed thereby, and that such use will be in harmony with the purpose and intent of the Ordinance, I move the Special Use Permit be granted. Motion
passed unanimous.
This concludes the Special Use Permit case.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:20 p.m.
