Public hearings will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After
the public hearings, the Planning Commission will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. The schedule contains (3) Rezoning Applications and (3) Special Use Permit Applications.
The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing and rule on (3) Rezoning Applications on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor,
Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. The Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing and rule on (3) Special Use Permit Applications on Tuesday, March 8,
2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia.
Case 1 Jerry Lee Heath, R-11-007 – The properties are a total of 27.15 acres, three parcels, located on State Road 612/Banister Road, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the
Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 1484-52-0213/108-9-7A (17.53 acres), 1484-42-1485/108-9-9A (1.11 acres) and 1484-43-0092/108-9-1C (8.51 acres). The applicant is requesting to
rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District to A-1, Agricultural District to make the zoning consistent with the adjoining farm and for future subdivision of the properties
for family members.
Case 2 Donald R. Fritz & Linda W. Fritz, R-11-008 – The property is 0.40 acre, located off State Road 978/Lakeside Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania
County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1563-31-0549/26-2-2C. The applicants are requesting to rezone from
MHP, Residential Manufactured Housing Park District to A-1, Agricultural District for a single family dwelling for their permanent residence.
Case 3 Coy E. Harville & Jean D. Harville, R-11-009 – The properties are a total of 21.80 acres, three parcels, located off State Road 870/Vandola Road, in the Westover Election District
and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 1386-97-4569/176-21-8 (14.11 acres), 1386-98-6549/176-21-11C (7.06 acres) and 1386-98-4317/176-21-6A (0.63 acre). The applicants
are requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District to A-1, Agricultural District for agricultural use (timber harvesting).
Case S-1 Richard L. Sowers, Jr., S-11-004 – The property is 1.11 acres, located on State Road 730/Countryside Drive, in the Dan River Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania
County Tax Maps as GPIN # 2358-86-9436/167-A-11S. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for a vehicle demolisher.
Case S-2 David Calloway, S-11-005 – The property is 0.65 acre, located on State Road 832/Halifax Road, in the Banister Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps
as GPIN # 2465-47-4849/101D-2-G. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for a single-wide mobile home for his personal residence.
Case S-3 Samuel Tarpley Adams, Jr., Trustee, S-11-006 – The property is 3.284 acres, located on State Road 1044/Beechnut Road, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania
County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1493-46-1053. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for a salvage yard.

The Pittsylvania County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, to receive citizen input and make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to amend
the Pittsylvania County Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 35-Zoning, SEC.35-40. PRINCIPAL DEFINITIONS OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE. Accessory Building-to delete the following: An accessory building
shall not dominate a principal building in area, extent or purpose. The meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, of the Edwin R. Shields Courthouse
Addition in Chatham, Virginia. A copy of the proposed change will be available for review in the Office of the County Administrator, 21 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, and the
Office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
