Public hearings will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. After
the public hearings, the Planning Commission will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. The schedule contains (4) Rezoning Applications and (2) Special Use Permit Applications.
The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing and rule on (4) Rezoning Applications on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor,
Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia. The Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing and rule on (2) Special Use Permit Applications on Tuesday, December 14,
2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia.
Case 1 R-10-050 – Withdrawn
Case 2 Richard L. Sowers, Jr., R-10-051 – The property is 1.11 acres, located on State Road 730/Countryside Drive, in the Dan River Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County
Tax Maps as GPIN # 2358-86-9436/167-A-11S. The applicant is requesting to rezone from B-2, Business District, General to M-2, Industrial District, Heavy Industry for a vehicle demolisher.
Case 3 Timothy R. Barber & Kimberly R. Barber, R-10-052 – The properties are a total of 2.23 acres, two parcels, located on State Road 862/Oak Hill Road, in the Tunstall Election District
and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN #s 1358-53-2939/159-A-17F (0.23 acre) and 1358-53-3858/159-A-18H (2.00 acres). The applicants are requesting to rezone from RC-1,
Residential Combined Subdivision District to A-1, Agricultural District to combine with their existing farm (GPIN # 1358-62-1692) for agricultural use.
Case 4 John W. Adkins & Jane M. Adkins, R-10-053 – The property is 22.39 acres, located on State Road 817/Turkeycock Mountain Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District and shown
on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN # 1445-79-2945/92-A-1B. The applicants are requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District to A-1, Agricultural
District to make the zoning consistent with the adjoining parcels of land zoned A-1.
Case 5 Tony A. Fox, R-10-054 – The property is 3.12 acres, located on State Road 799/Climax Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps
as GPIN # 2409-07-6095/56-4-8. The applicant is requesting to rezone from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District to A-1, Agricultural District to allow for construction of a
garage/shop that is larger than his dwelling.

Case S-2 Betty Davis Huppert, S-10-014 – The property is 1.18 acres, located on State Road 875/Horseshoe Road, in the Westover Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County
Tax Maps as GPIN # 1378-32-0293/160-16-12A. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for a single-wide mobile home for her son’s residence.
Case S-3 William H. Simms, S-10-015 – The property is 8.85 acres, located on Ponderosa Drive, in the Dan River Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Maps as GPIN
# 2358-76-4513/167-13-R. The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit for an automobile graveyard.

The Pittsylvania County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, to receive citizen input and make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to
amend the Pittsylvania County Ordinance, Chapter 35-Zoning for the addition of the following Supplementary Definitions: Non-Emergency Medical Transport – Non-emergency citizen transportation
which may include common carrier bus services (intra-city and inter-city), commercial taxicab services, wheelchair van services, stretcher van services, gas reimbursement and commercial
carrier services. The non-emergency medical transport organization must meet all State requirements as specified by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Emergency Medical Transport
– Emergency citizen transportation which includes fire and rescue departments, emergency medical services (such as Regional One EMS). The emergency medical transport organization must
meet all State requirements as specified by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Internet Sweepstakes Cafés – Any business enterprise, whether as a principal or an accessory use, where persons utilize electronic machines, including but not limited to computers and
gaming terminals, to conduct lawful game pursuant to Virginia Code §18.2-325.1 as may be amended from time to time including but not limited to sweepstakes and video poker, and where
cash, merchandise or other items of value are redeemed or otherwise distributed, whether or not the value of such distribution is determined by electronic games played or predetermined
odds; and to amend the Pittsylvania County Ordinance, Chapter 18-Subdivision Ordinance for the addition of the following Supplementary Definition: SEC. 18-2. DEFINITIONS, (dd) Subdivision.
The term subdivision shall not include a bona fide single division or partition of land between immediate family members for a building site. The term “immediate family” shall be defined
as provided for in Virginia Code Section 15.2-2244.A, as the same may be from time to time amended, which is incorporated herein by reference. Any such division shall be subject to provisions
of Virginia Code Section 15.2-2244.1, as the same may from time to time be amended. In addition, no division of land which has been ordered by a Court of competent jurisdiction shall
be subject to the provisions of this ordinance. (B.S.M. 07/07/08). The meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the General District Courtroom, second floor, of the Edwin R. Shields Courthouse
Addition in Chatham, Virginia. A copy of the proposed changes will be available for review in the Office of the County Administrator, 21 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, and the
office of Code Compliance, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
