Executive Committee Meeting of the Board of Trustees
January 8, 2024

The Library Board of Trustees met on January 8, 2024. Karen Eades, Chair, called the meeting to order at
3:37 PM. Karen Eades, Phyllis Roach, Janice Fitts, and Rhonda Griffin were in attendance.
The consent agenda containing the minutes of the September 11, 2023 Library Board meeting, the
agenda without amendment, and the financial and operations reports for September were approved on
a motion by Phyllis Roach and seconded by Karen Eades.
Action Items:
Both items listed under action items: 1) DVD Policy and 2) Board Forms, were determined to be moved
to the full board meeting in February.
Information items:
Rhonda reviewed the Director’s report including personnel updates and programs.
Rhonda reminded the Executive Board of the staff training that will take place on February 20th. Danville
Regional Foundation has approved funding to reserve Marsha Semmel as the keynote speaker for the
event, which will include the Danville Public Library, Danville Science Center, Pittsylvania County Public
Library system, and Caswell Council for the Arts.
“Marsha is a national museum leader who has served in senior executive positions at the
National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.”
The Executive Committee meeting adjourned at 4:03 pm.
