PROGRAM ENHANCEMENTS
Thanks to the great outcomes from the 2021 program, the
IALR team secured additional funding from GO Virginia 3
and the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission to
support the ExperienceWorks framework, which organizes a
work -based learning ecosystem throughout the region.
We increased the number of internship placements for
students from 15 to 30.
Student stipends increased to minimum wage ($11/hr).
Pittsylvania County School faculty will be contracted to
work with students throughout the summer during their
Friday debriefs.
Listening to feedback from students, we shortened the
length of the work -readiness bootcamp and moved it to
the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research.

AspHIRE Mock Interview Day is a
collaboration with Pittsylvania County
Schools and the business community as
interviewers.
The EXCITE : Exploring Careers Through
Industry Teacher Externships program
provides opportunities for PCS teachers
to work in local businesses for a few days
over the summer.
Sector -focused camps are specific to an
industry. A sector camp in LOCAL
GOVERNMENT can help youth understand
opportunities within local government.
