Mr. Howard C. Farmer - 100th BirthdayPITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
RESOLUTION
2007-09-67
WHEREAS, Howard C. Farmer was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, on
September 30, 1907; and
WHEREAS, Howard C. Farmer worked as a sharecropper for 21 years until he
could by his own farm in Ringgold, Virginia, which he operated for 34 years and later
worked in the tobacco warehouses in Danville, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Howard C. Farmer was married to the former Nevada Wilson for 67
years until her demise; and
WHEREAS, on May 28, 1944, Howard C. Farmer was ordained as a Deacon at
Bethel Baptist Church, Danville, Virginia, where he also served on the Trustee Board and
as Treasurer of the benevolent fund, was a member of the Sunday School, Bible Study
and attended prayer meeting each Wednesday night; and
WHEREAS, Howard C. Farmer attributes the longevity of his life to his faith in
God, hard work and the strong support of his family.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Pittsylvania
County Board of Supervisors express their sincere congratulations to Howard C. Farmer
as he has reaches his 100th year milestone on September 30, 2007; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors directs that a
copy of this resolution be presented to Howard C. Farmer on the behalf of the Board and
the Citizens of Pittsylvania County.
