Food and Beverage TaxPITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
RESOLUTION #2007-03-19
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has determined that it is in the best interest of the
County of Pittsylvania to place a question on the ballot concerning County Food and Beverage Tax;
and
WHEREAS, Seetion 58.1-3833 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, authorizes a
question to be placed on the ballot by a governing body o determine the opinion of the registered
voters of the County on the question; and'
WHEREAS, Section 24.2-6"$4 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, requires that the
local governing body to petition the Circuit Court. to place a court order calling for a referendum to
be entered upon the question
"Shall the County of Pi~sylvania authorise a tax ~on ~faod and beverages sold for human
consumption by restaurants `within the boundaries. of the County of Pittsylvania?"
AND WHEREAS, ,a~ court order on this question should be entered as soon as possible to
insure 60 days notice to the ~Bldcton Officials before the November 6th referendum; then
BE TT HE~iEBY RESOLVED, by the Pittsylvania_.County Board of Supervisors that they
request the Circuit Court of Pittsylvania County to enter a -.court order placing `the following
question on the ballot: "Shall the County of Pittsylvania authorize a tax on food and beverages sold
for human consumption by restaurants within the-boundaries ofthe County of Pittsylvania?"; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors shall submit a

copy of this resolution to the Clerk of the Circuit Court in accordance with the requirements of
Section 58.1-3833 of the ,-Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended and Section 24.2-684 of the Code of
Virginia, 1950, asamended. -
ADOPTED, by unanimous recorded vote, by the Members of the Board of Supervisors of
Pittsylvania County, Virginia on this day.'
