Re: Truck Restriction -Blue Ridge Drive
Dear Mr. Hamilton:
Attached hereto, you will find a resolution passed by the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors at
their regular meeting on October 5, 2009 requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to place
No Thru Truck signs on Rockford School Road off of its entrance on Route 40 and Rockford School
Road off of its entrance on U S Route 29. In addition, signs on Blue Ridge Drive and on Prospect Road
to ensure that there are no thru trucks from Rockford School Road to Blue Ridge Drive and Prospect
Road to the power plant in Hurt, Virginia.
The Board of Supervisors has held two public hearings and reviewed three alternates to try to get to the
Power Plant. The Board is recommending the primary alternate as the same alternate that the Town
Council of the Town of Altavista has proposed; the northernmost exit coming off of State Route 712 and
Business 29, taking Business 29 South through the Town of Altavista to Pittsylvania Avenue East to State
Route 668. I am requesting that you expedite action on this issue as soon as possible. If you should have
any questions concerning the attachment, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Sincere ,
