2015-03-01 CentraCoPN MRIVittolbanta ltCountp 38oarb of *uperbi9;or!5 RESOLUTION 2015 -03 -01 WHEREAS, the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, during the development of a comprehensive plan for the future of Pittsylvania County, realized a need for emergency and regular medical care facilities to be located in the urbanizing areas of Pittsylvania County, included but not limited to, the incorporated areas of the Towns of Chatham, Gretna, and Hurt and with the arrival of the new Gretna Medical Center by Centra, it is further realized that advanced medical equipment needs to be located in Pittsylvania County; and WHEREAS, Mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non - invasive imagining technology that produces three dimensional detailed anatomical images without the use of damaging radiation and is often used for disease detection, diagnosis for both diseases and injuries, and treatment monitoring; and WHEREAS, the closest locations for MRI imaging is currently more than 35 -60 miles away from many of the residents in Pittsylvania County; and WHEREAS, having MRI technology at the new Gretna Medical Center two days a week will eliminate health disparities in our community and provide the citizens a choice of healthcare providers and achieve health equity; therefore BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors supports Centra Health in their application for a Certificate of Public Need to the Virginia State Health Commission for Mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services to be located at the Gretna facility proposed by Centra Health in Pittsylvania County.
