The meeting started approximately at 12:30 pm, after everyone had the chance to go through the lunch buffet line.  Chief Eagle then asked for the approval of the last meeting’s minutes, and they were approved with the appropriate motions. LEPC Meeting Minutes June 14, 2012 Mary’s Diner – 12:00pm 2  Al Smith presented for City CERT, and he also reported many findings of the recent earthquakes and damages. You may go to the National Geological website to find fault lines. As far as CERT goes, classes are going well, especially with DCC – as they are requiring their security staff to be CERT trained. CERT also was a part of the tornado drills in the City schools, and has been working with Neighborhood Watch through grant funding.  Eddie Walker presented for the County CERT. This is the first year that they used the eBook readers and fire simulators, and they both were successful.  Steve Dishman reported for the HazMat team. Through grant funding, they were able to do radio upgrades – totaling $36,300. The team has worked with a few spill issues including a latex product and hydraulic fluid, but neither affected people in the area – just clean-up. They are working on multiple other grants for routine training. There was an advanced regional training exercise later in the month of June in Lynchburg, VA. This particular training was to help the Danville team to concentrate on propane Emergencies and using a LPG compressor. This tool is a lot safer in transferring propane, instead of destroying it. Bryan Thurman spoke briefly concerning this.  Colonial Pipeline’s representative, Tom West, presented on prevention and detection, ROW Watch Reward Program, different marker posts, and many other safety precautions. To review the mapping system, you can go to https://www.npms.phmsa.dot.gov/ . Also, to review the whole PowerPoint presentation given by Colonial Pipeline, please see the attached.  Next Meeting: August 9, 2012 12:00pm C&E’s Restaurant – Gretna, VA  Chief Eagle then asked if there was any other discussion for the good of the meeting and adjourned the meeting, at approximately 1:30 pm. Respectfully submitted, Kelley G. Satterfield Senior Secretary, Danville Emergency Management
