Mr. Davis thanked everyone for being here today and this is the first joint LEPC
Meeting of Pittsylvania County and the City of Danville. Mr. Davis has sent out a copy
of the By-Laws to Chief Eagle and Director of Emergency Management Buster Brown
for review and then a copy will be sent out to the LEPC Committee.
Mr. Davis is requesting from this Committee a vote to allow us to have an interim Co-
Chair. This gives us time to submit both jurisdiction and all who are members to the state
for their approval and to be bonded under the new organizations. Today Mr. Davis is
requesting to have one County member and one City member until the first of the fiscal
year.
A motion was made by Buster Brown, seconded by Barry Dudley, and unanimously
carried that Jim Davis and Chief Eagle continue to Co-Chairs the LEPC Committee until
January 1, 2012.
John Shipman from Colonial’s Pipeline advised that today is National 8-11 Day. This
is a natural reminder for contractors and residents to call 811 prior to any digging project
and also they have a program if you see any situation that may affect the pipeline’s safe
operation you can report it for a reward.
Mr. Davis introduces Bobbie Atristain, Timmons Group she is doing some project
management and work for the county. She is working on Pitt Viper computer map for
Pittsylvania County. Ms Atristain discussed what the entire viper computer can do.
Brian Thurman, VDEM discussed the joint drill with Pittsylvania County and
Sartomer Company. Participant was Pittsylvania County, Sheriff’s Office, Fire and
EMS, Danville Haz Mate Team, Danville Regional Hospital and the State. This was the
first night drill that has ever been done at Sartomer. Mr. Thurman discussed the drill.
