BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Pittsylvania County will meet on
these days hereafter for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors of
acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration
AND EITHER INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM SUCH ASSESSMENTS. Before a
change can be granted, the taxpayer or his/her agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor
of the assessment. The taxpayer or his/her agent must prove that the property is not uniform with
other similar properties or prove that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.
Hearings with the Board of Equalization will be held by appointment and scheduled every 20
minutes to minimize waiting. To appear before the Board of Equalization, please call (434) 432 -
1768 or (434) 432-7712 between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:00PM Monday through Friday to
schedule a hearing appointment. Meetings of the Board of Equalization to hear complaints will
be held 18 Depot Street in Chatham, VA.
Tuesday, February 25, 2014 9:00 A.M – 2:00 P.M
Thursday, February 27, 2014 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M
Tuesday, March 4, 2014 9:00 A.M – 2:00 P.M
Thursday, March 6, 2014 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M
Additional dates and times will be scheduled if needed and advertised by order of the
Pittsylvania County Board of Equalization.
