VIRGINIA: The Pittsylvania County Board of Zoning Appeals met on Tuesday, May 14, 2073, in the Genexal
� District Cour[room, Edwin R. Shieids Courthouse Addirion, Chatham, Virginia. Mc. Talbott called the meeting to
ordex at appro�cixnately 7:00 p.m. The Board observed a few moments of silence. Ms. Hayes called the roll.

THE ZONING PRECEPTS WERE READ BY Mr. Talbott to OPEN THE PUBLIC HEARING at
appro�matel}� 7:03 p.m.
Case V-1. Fairview Bantist Church. V-13-002 — Mr. Talbott opened tl�e public hearing at approxirnately 7:04 p.m.
Ms. Hayes, Code Compliance Office/Deputy Z.orung Administrator, reported Fain�iew Bapust Church had petitioned
for a Variance on 414 acres, located on State Road 686/"T.ion Road, in the Banister Elecuon District,
to Section 35-182, Mir�irnum Yaid llimensions (B.) Side Setback, of the Pittsylvania County Zoning Orciinance,
xeyuesnng a variance of 26 feet to allow for construcdon of a new church sanctuary and drive-under canopy. Ms.
Hayes further reported the Planning Commission, with no opposition, recommended granting the pefitioners'
reyuesL Chris Adcock was present to represent the pedtion. Mr. Adcock gave background information on thc site
under petition and stated fumre parking and storm watei management unpacted the placement of the sanctuary. He

further stated that the adjacent pxoperty ownets were in suppoit of the pedtion and there was no othex residential
structure within 300 feet of the proposed addidon. Mr. Adcock fuxther stated the well and sepdc also vnpacted the
location of the addition. There was no opposition to the peduon. Mr. 'falbott closed the public heaxing at
approacimately 7:07 p.m. The Board discussed the petition as thc Coavnittee of the \X�hole and determined there were
no adverse effects. During the discussion it was stated several members had visited the site. Upon motion of Mr.
Mexricks, seconded U}' Mr. Yeaman, the following motion was adopted: Whereas, Fairview Baptist Chuxch has
petirioned the I;oard of Zoning Appeals, for a Variance to Secdon 35-182, Minunum Yazd Dimensions, (B.) Side
Setback, of the Pittsylvania County Zoning Ordinance and, Wheceas, approval of the applicauon promotes the
general welfare of our citizens and Whereas, the board finds that the strict applicauon of the ordinance would
produce undue hardship, that the hardship is not shared generally by other properties in the same zoning disuict and
the same vicinit}', that the authorization of the Variance will not be of substanha] detriment to adjacent property and
that the charactex of the district will not be changed by the gzanting of the Variance and, Wheceas, the condidon ox
situation of the propexty concemed is not of so genexal or recurring a nature as to make reasonably practicable the
formulation of a general regulation be adopted as an amendment to the ordinance, I move the Variance be granted.
Motion passed unanitnous.
This condudes the Variance case.
