Case 2. Carson Lester, R-]3-002 —1�1r. Stowe opened the public hearing at 7:05 p.m Mrs. FIayes, Code Compliance
Offlcer/Deputy'Loning Administrator, ceported that Cacson Lester had petitioned to rezone 10.24 acxes (8.87 acres &om
A-1, Agriculmxal Disrrict and 1.37 acre fxom R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District) to M-3, Industrial Disteic[,
Heavy Industry, located off State Road 744/Lestex Lane, in the Chatham-Blairs Elecrion llistrict for a salvage yacd/salvage
license. N�s. Haves also xepoxted N�. Lester had petiuoned to rezone 091 acre, located on State Road 1085/Caxson Lester
Lane, in the Chatham-Blairs Elecdon District Esom A-1, Agricultucal District to M-1, Industrial Disuict, Light Industry to
combine with GPIN # 2412-73-5819 to make the zoning consistent. Sheila Cody was present to represent the pedtion.
She stated she had nothing to add. Ms. Cody was questioned as to wliethex the easement map for the 0.91 acxe had beeu
recorded, and she replied it had not j�et been recorded. Thcre was no opposition to the peddon. Mr. Stowe closed the
public hearing at 7:07 p.m. A motion was made by Iv�. Modey, seconded by NI�'. Haroille, to xecommend the Board of
Supemisoxs xezone 10.24 acxes (8.87 acres Exom A-1, Agricultural District and 1.37 acre Exom R-1, Residendal Subuxban
Subdivision District) to i�f-2, Industrial District, Heavy Industry and 0.91 acxe be rezoned from A-1, Agricultural District to
M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry provided the easement map is recorded upon approval by the Board of
Supervisors. i�4otion passed unanimously.
Case 3. Edwatd E. Dalton, R-13-003 — Mr. Stowe opened the public hearing at 7:08 p.m. Mrs. Hayes, Code Compliance
Officer/Deputy Zoning Administratox, reported that Edwaxd Dalton tiad peurioned [o rezone a total oE 19.66 acres, two
(2) �axcels of land, located on State Road 360/Old Richmond Road and on State Road 713/Oak Gxove Koad in the Dan
River Elecdon District fxom R-1, Kesidential Suburban Subdivision District to i1-1, �lgricultural Disuict to make the
zoning consistent with the adjacent parcels oE land zoned A-1. Edwaxd Dalton was present to represent the petition. He
staTed he had nothing to add. There was no opposition to the petition. Ivfr. Stowe closed the public hearing at 7:09 p.m.
Duxing the ciiscussion, it was stated this is consistent with the surrounding axea. A motion was made by Mr. Welboxn,
seconded by N�. Arthur, to xecommend the Board oF Superoisors mzonc the propexty from R-1, Residential Suburban

at 7:10 p.m. Mrs. HaVes, Code Compliance Officex/Deputy Zoning ildmuus�ator, repoxted that Nicholas J. Baker and
Others had peudoned to rezone a total oE 3750 acres, four (4) pazcels of land, located on State Road 703/Irish Road, in
the "I'unstall �lecuon District from R-1, Residenual SuUurban Subdivision District to A-1, ilgricultuxal District to make the
zoning consistent urith the adjacent parcels zoned �1-1. Tom Baker was pmsent to represent the petiuon. He stated he had

discussion, it was stated this is consiscent with the suxrounding area. A motion was made by Mx. Modey, seconded by Mt.
Harville, to recommend the Board of Superoisors xezone the pxoperues from R-1, Residential Subuxban Subdivision
District to t1-1, :lgriculmial District Monon passed unanunously�.
Case 5, Michael W. Shelton , R-13-005 — i�Ix. Sto�ve opened the public hearing at 7:12 p.m. Mrs. Hayes, Code
Compliance OEficex/Deputp Zoning Administratox, reported that Michael Shelton had peritioned to sezone 13?4 acies,
located on U.S. Highway 29 North, in the Banistex Elecdon Dis[rict from R-1, Residendal Suburban Subdivision District to
B-Z, Business District, Genexa] fox future sale of the propexty. Michael Shelton was pxesent to xepresent the pedrion. He
stated he had nothing to add. Robext]ones spoke xegaxcling the petition. His concerns included, but wexe not limited to,
the propexty being an eyesore with old junk cars, car parts and an old house on the propexh. He further stated he was not

opposed to the rezoning, but he was aEraid if the property was sold it would it be a junkyard, unattended and condnue to
be an eyesoxe Mr. Shelton oEEered a rebuttal and stated there are other commescial pxopexues in the area. FIe also stated
there are old cars on the pxopertp now and he would like ro dean up the area. iVlr. Stowe closed the public hearing at 7:19
p.m. During the discussion, Mr. Shelton was questioned as to whethen c� would bc willing to submit a proffer to upgrade
the pxoperty and dean it up priox to xezoning, and iVlx. Shelton stated he would be wilGng to submit a pmffer. A mouon

Residential Subuxban Subdivision Distxict to I3-2, Business Distxict, General with ptoffer stating the old junk cars and
car parts on the property cvill be removed and the old house on the property will be demolished and cleaned up.
Motion passed unanimously.
Case 6, Robert CGnton Nuckles, Jr., R-13-006 — Mr. Sto�ve opened the public hearing at 7:21 p.m. l�frs. I Iayes, Code
Compliance Officer/Deputy'Loning Adminisrrator, reported that Robert Clinton Nud;les, Jx., had petirioned to rezone
0.45 acxe (part of 1?7 acre), located on State Road 729/Kenmck Road, in the Dan Rivex Election District from B-2,
Business District, General to A-1, Agricultural District to combine with the adjaccnt parcel of land zoned A-1 to construct
a single-family dwelling. Robert Nuckles, Jr., was present to repxesent the petition. He stated he had nothing to add.

Case 7, Industrial Development Authotit�of Pittsylvania County VA, R-13-007 - Mx. Stowe opened the pubfic
hearing at 7:23 p.m. Mrs. Hayes, Code Compliance Officcr/Depun "Loning :�dministxator, reported that Industrial
Development Authority of Pittsylvania County, VA, had peddoned to xezone 2.99 acxes, located on State Road 733/Barker
Road, in rhe Dan River Elecdo� District from R-1, Residennal S�burba� Subdivision District to M-1, Indusrrial District,

Officer/Deputy Zoning Administrator, repoxted that�ack Pruitt had pctitioned to tezone 0.827 acre (part of 1.22 acie�,

Combined Subdivision District to B-2, Business District, General to be combined with the adjacent paxeel of land zoned

Commission meeung to be held in August, 2013. blrs. Hayes stated this will be checked on to verify the actual date fox
the Narional Night Out.
